Self Help Guru
The self help book section at bookstores is growing and growing because people are getting more and more self absorbed. They want a magic saying or recipe that will make them happy and rich.
There just isn’t a thing. Either you’re going to be ok because of who and what you are or you are going to be fucked by those who already have it.
There is this common thread in all the self help gurus and the books they have written from Napoleon Hill to Eckhart Tolle.
You can stop buying the damn books because I’m going to give you the list of things they all say.
Be positive
Don’t be all negative. No matter what life tries to shove down your throat, you gotta be positive. That means there are no bad days, bad people, or bad thoughts; just opportunity.
You probably can’t do this because there are those few things that make you so mad and make you lose hope in humanity.
Speak with confidence and discipline
Be friendly and don’t let emotions take over when something you think that sucks comes up. Discipline comes from staying positive and being able to convey what you are thinking into what you are saying.
If you have to keep trying to make people understand what you are trying to say, you aren’t communicating right. Cynicism, sarcasm, and anger will be what you communicate with instead. Don’t even try discipline on Facebook, you can’t.
Pay some attention
When someone speaks to you, listen. Hear what they are trying to say. Ask questions so that you know what they are trying to convey to you. Stop thinking of what you are going to say. Smart people don’t need to be ready to speak.
You won’t ever really listen to another person. You will make it about you, you’ll space out and think about what notifications are on your phone, you’ll wish you could be somewhere else.
Composure
You will not be unhinged by others. Letting things get you mad is a sign of unbalanced thinking. If you are always going on Facebook to make a point, you are living with no composure, but in total fear of the world around you.
You don’t have composure. Never have, never will. You will always be the dumb animal that has to react to fucking everything.
Patience
You have time because you want the right outcome. Maybe not the outcome you’d like or deserve, but waiting for what is real and just. Stop trying to rush everything. Look at the long run instead of chasing instant gratification.
You can’t be patient. You want, what you want now! Right fucking now! You don’t have time for anything.
An open mind
You will never know everything, but you can try and achieve that, but the only way to learn anything is to open your mind. Close minded people are just wasting their brains.
You’ll fail at this. You are stuck in your stupid ways. You will be more into defending your set ways then learn something new.
Smile
When you are communicating with others, smile. Drop the tough guy attitude. Your smile will do more to change the world then any dumb shit you can say or write.
You are way too self absorbed to think about smiling. Your face is always in a constant grimace.
Hold your tongue
Not all your feelings and thoughts need to be expressed. This is something forgotten due to social media and reality television where everyone says what’s on their mind all the time. You can be honest without always checking in.
You would rather check in about everything then be quiet. People can’t even not share what restaurant they are eating at. You have to have constant validations on all your feelings then ever be stoic.
Don’t procrastinate
Duh.
But you won’t. You will always think there is time or something more important to do. You’ll just always be waking up and yelling shit when you realize what day it is.
Do something nice for someone
At least once a day, stop being a self absorbed piece of shit and do something for someone else. All self help ends with other helping.
You won’t though. It’s too hard to even do the stupid shit you have to do. You’ll try, but you’ll make it about yourself instead.
Fail
Failure is more important to learning then success. It teaches us so much more. Learn from the failure rather than become marose.
You’ll just dwell on how shitty you are when you make a mistake. Then you’ll make the same mistake again.
Treat others like platinum
Instead of treating others like you’d like to be treated, treat other like how they want to be treated. When someone is in front of you, that person should be the most important person in the world.
You’ll fuck this up because of how much you’ll spen wishing people would treat you better and then you’ll treat people like shit because you think they deserve it. You will always with the person in front of you is someone better and cooler.
Praise others
Instead of looking for praise for yourself, give a lot of praise to others. Be inspired easily and desire to know how a person succeeds.
Instead, you will be wishing for praise and then spend you free time talking shot about others. Everyone is wrong, stupid, and worthless.
Never go alone
Don’t think self-help is just about self overcoming self. Other people can be a source of inspiration, strength, and support. Have friends.
It you’d rather do everything alone because you think you’re so strong and maybe your friends aren’t very good ones.
