We bought a new car this week. A grey 2010 Toyota Corolla. I’m lucky to have family help me buy it. We took it on a Sunday drive yesterday. We drove out to Arlington and took the 219 all the way to Fossil, and then took the 218 past the old Rajaneesh place through Antelope and up to Shaniko, and then took the 97 back. Nicole drove; I DJ’d.
We have a hummingbird declaring the feeder his (and we know his gender from his bright red throat). He chases off any other hummingbirds who dare come close to the feeder. It hangs on the porch, so it is like watching an action movie while the eastern skies darken in the evening.
I had to drive to our closest bank, which is in Troutdale. As I was driving back I saw helicopters with buckets and then two planes fly in a swooping motion to pick up water from the Columbia river to bring back to the forest fires up near Parkdale. We sometimes see the smoke to the west where we are. It has made sunsets, sunrises, moonrises, and moonsets extra beautiful.
The gorge is beautiful.
On our little road trip, we stopped at Claron Arch. This is a huge rock formation that have fossils embedded in them. We tried walking around, but the sun was brutal. We could feel our skin searing and Rufus was upset about his dainty paws being too hot.
All the workers are gone and we have our orchard to ourselves again. A couple of nights ago, Rufus barked into the night and when I shined my light, I could see three set of eyes glowing back at me. Three deer then proceeded to bound off and jump a six foot fence and cross into the orchard across the street.
I am making progress on my tarot deck. It is tedious, but I’ve really enjoyed being creatively unstuck.
I love your Sunday posts. The world should slow down on Sundays. I also read the joker Tarot card and was just flabbergasted. Do people say that anymore? Did you write all the text? If so, a book fantasy style is in your future. I have not had time to read all the rest of the cards and I know nothing about Tarot, but now you have me interested. Keep writing.
